Fuchsia Loughbeg
Fuchsia Loughbeg.

This is a variety of Fuchsia I bred and grew in Ringaskiddy in 1984 and mum had the honour of naming the Plant.
Mary called it Loughbeg.
It turned out to be a magnificent plant that came froma tiny seedling .
Today it grows quite happily in the woodland garden in Carrigaline and also on Dursey Island where it is thriving so well. These pictures were taken on a warm May evening at 7.00pm .
What I love about Loughbeg is that it flowers the 12 months of the year and frost has no effect on it.
The flowers develop in large clusters of magical bells.
Every Christmas there is always a bunch of FuchsiaBells on the Christmas table and it makes it so inviting.
The nearest variety to it in Appearance is MrsPopple but that one lacks the quality of flowers and blackspot resistance.
There was a marvelous ( Pat ) postman in Monkstown called Pat Hickey who used to grow 339 different varieties. He was such an expert on Fuchsia.
Born and bred in Ringaskiddy, Loughbeg Fuchsia deserves a spot in gardens that are loved.
Available to purchase from us here in Stonewall Gardens, grown from our own stock plant here.
